IMPROVING YOUR CREDIT SCORE
If your FICO score is less than 723, or if your VantageScore is less than what the bureaus say is the average score, you'll want to make some improvements. Unfortunately, nothing happens overnight. Improving your score will take a lot of discipline, and time.
The most important thing you can do to improve your score is to be vigilant about your current debts, no matter how much you owe.
You must start making all your payments on time, even if you're able to pay only the minimum due. On-time payments will show lenders you're being responsible about this money you owe, and that makes you a better credit risk. Next, you need to work toward paying off your debt. Not only will you show lenders that you can pay your ! bills; you'll show that you're not simply borrowing and borrowing more, without the ability to pay.
There's no magic number of months or years it will take to improve your score. Each month of positive information will work in your favor. Remember to have patience and to keep your long-term goal-having good credit-in mind.
